When an outage occurs the system senses it immediately and starts your standby generator and then automatically switches the power from the utility power to the standby power generator.  Your generator will continue to run until the local power is restored.  In “Manual Transfer”, you are required to start the generator and then manually change the switch to transfer power from the utility to the standby power generator.
