If David Lopinski was asked as a child what he wanted to be when he grew up, he would have said an electrician. His uncle owned an electrical contracting business and Dave grew up with that strong family tie to the trade.

He started his apprenticeship in the family business in 1986 and was licensed in 1991. Five years later he was a Journeyman and earned his Master Electrician Certification so that he could continue on in the family tradition of providing quality and expert service.

Dave has a passion for the trade, which drives him to deliver excellent service. Focused on offering the best possible service, Defender Electric specializes in residential electrical work. The service includes scheduled appointment times and an emphasis on cleanliness that applies to the appearance of his electricians and to the way a customer’s home is treated. Jobs are priced up front, in writing, so there are no surprises and the electrician comes to the job with a “warehouse on wheels”, meaning that the van is packed with everything the job will require.

It’s his goal to put a new face on the residential electrical contracting business. This new face includes a routine home safety check that is carried out before work begins as well as the option to purchase a Home Protection Plan that offers discounts and scheduled maintenance among other perks. Defender Electric electricians also take the time to educate clients about their electrical systems.

As a licensed electrical contractor, Defender Electric is monitored by the ESA Electrical Safety Authority (ESA), a non- profit body responsible for ensuring safety standards and industry codes are met. The affiliation also means that Defender Electric is fully insured, something that Dave knows is extremely important to customers. They also have the assurance that Defender Electric offers the highest level of professional service.

While Dave is dedicated to his business, he also has family commitments. With active children involved in a variety of sports, he supports local teams as a regular sponsor. He is also involved in charities such as Ronald McDonald House, a residence for families of children receiving prolonged medical treatments and Interval House, a shelter for abused women. Dave is also a member of a professional organization, the Ontario Electrical League.
